In our second part of Project S3, we decided to focus on protection. Protecting the paint and the driver.

In order to protect the paint from the daily road grime and insect damage, we installed a 3M clear bra on the front bumper, front fenders, lower hood and side mirrors. Instead of damaging the cars beautiful finish, the bra takes the abuse. This clear plastic film is cut specifically for our S3’s front end and when installed properly can last for 5 years before it needs to be replace.

Next up is a little help from K40 Electronics. The RLS2 is K40’s newest portable radar detector with GPS technology. But its not the great radar protection that most impresses us. K40 has introduced there new false signal cancelation technology. No more automatic door or side assist false signals. This allows the driver to stay focused on the road instead of dealing with annoying false signals.

Finally is a K40 Defuser G5 mounted in the front grill. This little box jams laser equipped speed guns. By emitting a powerful infrared signal back towards the gun, law enforcement cant get an accurate signal reading. Mounted in a very inconspicuous place, the jammer doesn’t really feel out of place.
