Grassroots Motorsports // IMK Trick or Drift 2018

There’s nothing better than getting down and dirty with a day (or two) of grassroots tire shredding.

That’s right – this little ol’ town of Naples has a local-ish drift spot. Most know it as IMK, or Immokalee Regional Raceway, and you’ll need to drive a short hour to get there, but the next closest drift rings are 3 hours away.

Recognizable by their fleet of lean green machines, Drift HQ, a local Fort Myers business specializing in everything slideways, managed to put on a fantastic event complete with all the drifting action you can handle, food, music, and overnight camping.

Two tracks were laid out to suit all skill levels and whether you were sliding on your own, in tandem, or as part of a quad – cones were munched, barriers were love-tapped, tires were blown and changed – all of it was good fun.

I was lucky enough to be granted a media pass to get up close and personal with the orange cones outlining the main track and be on my toes at all times. There isn’t much else to say besides the fact that by the end of day 2 I was throughly coated in rubber, dust, dirt, and acquired a nice red Florida tan. I’ll let the photos do the talking from here:
